Professor of Translation Science and Biblical Languages (75%)

Internationale Hochschule Liebenzell

is a private accredited Christian University of Applied Sciences combining an academic focus with a strong emphasis on application and practice upholding the tradition of the Lutheran Reformation, Wuerttemberg Pietism, and world mission. In its confession of faith the IHL is committed to the Christian Bible which is understood as a „true, precise preaching of the Holy Spirit“ (Confessio Virtembergica, 1552), the creeds of the Early Church and the Lutheran Reformation, as well as the Lausanne Covenant. The IHL is committed to world mission.

IHL provides a holistic concept of study through academic and applied teaching. IHL focuses on building up individuals who will be able to spread the Gospel in various contexts at home and abroad with a missionary heart as well as with a theologically sound understanding, which is culturally sensitive and personally authentic.

Therefore, IHL understands itself as a fellowship of students and faculty in faith, life, and learning.

In September 2017, the position of a

Professor of Translation Science and Biblical Languages (75%)

will be vacant. The assignment includes teaching classes and seminars in the following two academic programs: „B.A. Evangelische Theologie“ and „B.A. Theologie/Pädagogik im interkulturellen Kontext“. IHL expects well-grounded academic scholarship in Translation Science and Ancient Hebrew and Greek, an expertise in international research, international research contacts, experience of teaching in a range of contexts as well as a fluency in English and German. The IHL would welcome practical experience in Bible translation.

According to §47 LHG of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, applicants must have a doctoral degree, 5 years of occupational experience, and the ability to teach in an educational setting.

In addition, the role holder will involve him-/herself in research projects which accompany and critically advise the international work of the Liebenzell Mission and generally contribute to the progress wider academic discourse. Moreover, he/she will actively participate in the academic self-governance. Besides academic qualifications, all faculty members must identify with the confession of faith and the preamble of the Primary Statute of IHL (http://www.ihl.eu/wir-uber-uns/praambel/), and be a member of a Protestant denomination.

The IHL would welcome intercultural experience in mission.

The salary will be according to the internal salary scale.

IHL expects well-grounded academic scholarship in Biblical Theology and Early Judaism, contributions to internationally recognized scholarship, international research collaboration, and experience of teaching in a range of contexts, as well as a fluency in English and German. The applicant should be able to develop the research performance of IHL.
