IHL publishes fourth volume with LIT-Verlag
BAD LIEBENZELL. As part of the 2015 IHL Symposium “Global Mental Health and the Church” at Internationale Hochschule Liebenzell (IHL), university of applied sciences, the fourth volume was published with LIT-Verlag in January, 2017, as part of the series “Interkulturalität & Religion • Intercultural & Religious Studies: Liebenzeller Impulse zu Mission, Kultur und Religion”.
The editors were Prof. Dr. Ulrich Giesekus (IHL), Prof. Dr. Bradford M. Smith (Belhaven University), and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Schuster, director of the IHL Research Center for Intercultural and Religious Studies.
The book presents Christian psychology approaches and international mental health care projects from around the world. It focuses on the resources of the church, mostly in local settings, to address challenges of psychosocial care. Good relationships, positive self-esteem and mental health are basic to improvements of the entire situation in poor and wealthy regions alike. The compendium includes contributions from China, Kenya, Mexico, Switzerland, USA and Germany. It is based on a symposium in June 2015 in Bad Liebenzell, Germany.
